Draft open grant applications

This article describes what draft applications are, their context, and where you can access them.

What are draft applications?

These are applications that the applicant has started but not yet submitted.

The context:

Applicants often start an open grant application and take a few days/weeks to complete it. This may be due to having to get team input, figuring out the project timeline, or finding the time to write and edit it. There are times when applicants start an application and never complete it, usually due to deciding it’s not right for them or because they clicked to apply out of curiosity to learn more.

Knowing the number of applications in the draft format can be of interest when trying to understand the demand for funding, given it indicates the potential number of applications. It’s also important to remember that we never know how many of these draft applications will actually be submitted, so it’s not a guaranteed indicator.

How draft applications are managed:

ChangeX sends out reminder emails to draft applicants before the closing date to encourage them to apply.

See draft applications on the applications page by clicking on more and selecting draft.
